Penny wanted to get fit and didn't have a great deal of time.
She somehow felt that she was using the children as an excuse not to.
METAPHOR
Once upon a time there
was a young lady who wanted to get fit. She was always so busy she didn’t know
what to do. No time, no time! She loved her children to bits and wanted to get
fit. Although she did not know it she had a ready made team at hand. One day she
went for a walk along the beach and walked out too far. All alone on the beach
she walked further not noticing how far she had gone. Suddenly she had the
strangest feeling of sinking and getting sucked into the sand her feet became
gripped in a soggy vice. She was very frightened indeed and had to think fast.
There was no one around to help her she was so alone. She found her inner
strength and collected her wits together and quickly lay as flat as she could
and pulled herself along where, luckily a piece of driftwood almost out of
reach by grasping, clinging and pulling at it she was finally able to get out.
When she got home exhausted
and covered in wet sand she realised how lucky she was. She was already fit
enough to start getting even fitter. The housework went out the window and next
day she took the children to play footy in the park she already had her own
football team in the guise of her own family. The kids all enjoyed it so much
that they brought along some friends to join in. Before she knew it she was
organising cricket, football and parachute games encouraging other mothers to
join in as well. At the same time she and all her friends and their children
were getting thoroughly puffed out. Getting fit together and later on in the
winter months they learnt to play badminton. Later on she became a children’s
fitness coach that made her very impressively fit. What a team, what a team
leader.
