Build a Lego House

How is this New Year for you?  Glad all the celebrations are over?  Wondering which way next?
There are New Year’s Resolutions, did you make some?  Have you broken any, yet?

What would it be like this year to set some deadlines (or some things to achieve)? Often we talk about achievements, goals, outcomes, opportunities, options, possibilities. I wrote last year about too many options and what that can mean.  We might end up doing nothing at all.
So if you’ve not had much success with goals, achievements, moving towards, that kind of thing – ask yourself the question – ‘What’s important to me?’  Is your answer about what you don’t want   (“because if I don’t have it, it will be terrible”)? That’s okay we have something to work with. No need to turn into a positive (perhaps you thought that NLP is all about Positive Thinking, not necessarily).  We might have to ask some people sometimes ‘just how bad does it have to get before you will do something?’

Ok so you know what you don’t want.  Now set yourself a deadline – so
a)      ‘I don’t want to be in the same place work-wise this year.’

b)      ‘I don’t want to not be able to go on holiday because I won’t be able to wear skimpy clothes or that bikini!’

c)       ‘I don’t want the same things to happen.’
Ask the question ‘What’s important to me about this?’

What it is that makes you feel happy, contented, rewarded, satisfied and that gets you excited in some way?  I want to achieve ...........by ................

Now it might be that this house your wanting to build or this problem you’re wanting to avoid, or this dream you have is not getting where you w ant it to be because over the years (since you first started dreaming this dream etc.,) your values have changed and the value you had is no longer important to you.  You’ll only exert energy and resources into activities that have a value for you.  That could be why you’re achieving what you want to achieve.

So perhaps you need to find out first what has value for you?
